OPEN CALL for PARTICIPANTS

Project title: Domestic violence and the fight against it

Stichting Cultural Aid (SCA) from The Netherlands is officially announcing an open call for young actors from The Netherlands who would like to participate in a film workshop in Utrecht, Netherlands in the period 18 – 26 October 2010.

The informal workshop program is designed to compare different cultural stands of young people regarding the proposed topic. Analyses are to be done through close elaboration on different genres of films, re-enacting the scenes from the movies and explaining the approach. Analysing violent elements seen through a cultural and individual prism, will open a broad discussion on the emotional impact, possible different categories of people and ethical and aesthetical issues concerning violence in film.
The participants from several European countries are going to be instructed by high professionals from the film sector: Ms. Willeke van Ammelrooy, Ms. Mirjana Karanovic, and Ms. Sinolicka Trpkova.

SCA encourages young actors from The Netherlands who fall in the age group between 20 and 25 to take part in this extraordinary project. To enrol in the program, all interested are advised to read the CRITERIA for enrolment and submit all necessary documents before 15 July 2010 following the official rules for applying.

After having moved between several temporary offices in the beautiful city of Utrecht, the Zoey Foundation for Arts and Culture got the great opp0rtunity to move to a permanent office. And not just any office! We moved into De Tolhuistuin in Amsterdam, a building from Cultuur aan het IJ. We have a nice office in Het Poortgebouw in Amsterdam-Noord.

It is very easy to reach by public transport. Just take the ferry from Amsterdam Central Station. You would rather come by car? No problem! You can park free for 2,5 hours in the blue zone.

De Tolhuistuin is planned to be a meeting point of the 21st century: all forms of art, rooted in the communities of the Northern part of Amsterdam, open for whole Amsterdam, with a programme from all over the world, hospit and cosmopolic, with one of the biggest and most atractive restaurant-cafés from Amsterdam.

This month Zoey Foundation for Arts and Culture celebrated her fifth birthday. On February 13th Zoey organized a great party for everyone in the office at Van Asch van Wijckskade. We were so happy to see that so many wonderful people attended our party! Artists from the neighborhood, youngsters who participated in previous projects, municipality of Utrecht, friends, family and many more were present to celebrate this special day with us.

The party started with a speech from our chairman of the board Gerard van Wolferen, who always has something interesting to say. His beautiful opening speech will be available here soon.

After Gerard’s lovely words it was time to present the results of the youth projects of 2009. The first project which was presented was Under Construction. The project had already started in December 2008 and was finished six months later. During the presentation the Under Construction Website was presented to the public. On this website all the results of the project are published, including all the films and songs made by the participating youngsters. Also some of the films the youngsters made where displayed. Two of the Dutch participants, Otmann and Azedine, were very enthusiastic and wanted to share their experiences with us.

They told us how happy they were to have been a part of this wonderful project and how rich they field with all the experiences they had and all the people they had met during the project. We were very pleased to hear that the youngsters now, one year after the actual meeting, are still in contact with the friends they made during the exchange in Portugal. They had so much to tell and in such an enthusiastic way that everybody got excited and a couple of plans for partnerships and new projects were made that same afternoon!

After the Under Construction presentation the presentation of Technology Penetrates Tradition started. Three of the Dutch participants, Laurens, Mark and Nolan, were present and happy to tell the audience about the project.

Besides the wonderful new friends they made during the project and of course the extraordinary musical results, the youngsters were specially grateful for all the things they learned during the project. For example, the cultural difference made them realize that the process of making a musical composition can be just as important and interesting or maybe even more then the result it self.

After listening to these interesting elaborations the Technology Penetrates Tradition documentary was displayed. This gave a good impression of the project, the atmosphere and of course the musical compositions. The trailer for this documentary will be available here soon.

After this formal part of the presentations everybody was invited to stay and have a drink, a bite to eat and a conversation with each other. It turned out to be the best birthday ever!

The seminar was organized by the National Agency for European Education Programme and Mobility in Macedonia in cooperation with the Croatian Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes and the SALTO SEE Resource Centre.

The aim of the seminar was to support users of the Programme to identify and develop common initiatives, to promote cross-regional cooperation in the framework of the cooperation with Programme Countries, to establish and create new sustainable partnerships trough exploring and learning about the Programme and to promote the Macedonian National Agency (current position and upcoming expected developments and work plan).

With a very divers three day program, the participants got the opportunity to work with each other on toppics like project managment, team work and partnership in an international project. A special attention went out to Youth in Action. What are the possibilities within Youth in Action, what kind of projects are possible and what are the rules for applying for European funds for such a projects?

Beside the bussines part of the ICMS program there were some cashual activities planned, so the participants got the chance to mingle with each other and make valuable contact with people from other organizations all throughout Europe.

The most important outcome of the seminar was that the participant returned home, having met new partners for transnational co-operation and /or project development, had the opportunity to work on project ideas with their new project partners and exchanged good practice and experiences in the preparation and implementation of projects.

International Training for Youngsters:

Energising the promotion of youth organizations

Zoey Foundation for Arts and Culture has announced a call for participants, youngsters that involved at cultural organizations to attend an International PR and marketing training course that took place in Skopje, Macedonia from 18 till 24 October 2009. Public Room and European Alliance of Republic of Macedonia were organizing the training and it was supported by the Youth in Action program of the European union.

The training course aimed to empower the youth organizations to gain better access to the media, more publicity, and work more effectively and rationally. Preparing a strategic approach in the PR and marketing will allow the youth organizations to increase publicity for their working activities and create better position for their organizations from all aspects.

The goal was to improve the skills of those persons within the youth cultural organizations who are in charge for public relations and marketing, so they can better promote their activities on regional and European level.

The project was a success and during their stay in Skopje, the youngsters initiated their own project: Kolours!
