Biography

Michael en Kenzo_1Michael Schumacher started dancing in his town of birth Lewiston (Idaho, VS) and studied Dance at Juilliard School in New York. He danced with Twyla Tharp Dance, the Ballet Frankfurt, the Pretty Ugly Company and in Peter Sellar’s productions. He worked with many choreographer among others William Forsythe, Anouk van Dijk, Paul Selwyn Norton, Cora Bos-Kroese, Dana Caspersen and Ruth Meyer. As a choreographer Schumacher worked amongst others for Ballet Frankfurt, NDT and Nationale Ballet. In collaboration with Daniela Graca, Marcelo Evelin and Anat Geiger he made Andamami (2000) and Glashuis (2001). In the past 10 years he was often a guest at the Holland Dance Festival. Here he danced together with Sylvie Guilliem in Work#1 (1997) of Dana Caspersen and he danced a series of duets with the Han Bennink, Cor Fuhler and Wilbert de Joode.

David Zambrano

For over 20 years, David Zambrano has been a monumental figure in the international dance community, and his passion for cultural exchange continues to influence his work. Living and making work in Amsterdam and teaching/performing internationally, Zambrano is an ambassador and liaison across many borders, bringing together artists from all over the planet for his projects. An inspiring teacher, thrilling performer, and innovative choreographer, Zambrano has contributed generously to the field of dance in ways that have influenced many and impacted the dance world from several angles. His development of the “Flying Low” and “Passing Through” techniques are among his recent innovations that have helped to lead improvisational dance into an exciting future. Many of his projects have continuously influenced Zambrano’s pedagogic methods, keeping them fresh and interesting for the students from around the globe.

Kenzo Kusuda

The Japanese choreographer and dancer Kenzo Kusuda studied Economy in Tokio, but got fascinated by dance and decided to learn more about this art form. As an autodidact he developed a very personal style of movement, which attracted international attention. Kusunda takes his audience into a world full of fantasy and imagination. His work is mystical and reaches beyond the fiscal appearance. He is capable of showing the unseen, just by using his body language. In 1999 Kusunda came to Holland. Since that day he has inspired many choreographers with his creativity and personal style of moving, amongst others Elshout & Handeler, Emio Greco, Shusaku Takeuchi, Katie Duck & Michael Schumacher, Joaquim Sabate, Dylan Newcomb, Paul Selwin Norton, Cora Bos-Kroese, Martin Butler en Nita Liem.

Simone Gomis

The in Dakar, Senegal born dancer Simone Gomis has a lot of experience in modern European dance and in traditional and modern African dance. She was educated at the end of the 90’s in Ecole des Sables (Senegal) by among others Germaine Acogny, Suzanne Linke, Abdou Mama Diouf and Avi Kaiser. She received a scholarship from UNESCO and studied dance in Senegal, France and Canada.

Simone works as a dancer, choreographer and teacher. She is already living in Belgium for years, but often returns to Senegal for projects. In 2007 she started Tenane with her three sisters. Simone does the choreography for their annual performance. Since 2000 she is also a part of Company Heddy Maalem in Toulouse, France, with whom she travels around the world.

Anouk van Dijk

Anouk van Dijk is choreographer and dancer. During her carrier she developed the movement system the Countertechniek. After her study at Rotterdam Dansacedemie she worked for Werkcentrum Dans, de Nieuwe Dansgroep, de Rotterdamse Dansgroep and Amanda Miller’s Pretty Ugly Dance Company.

Since 1989 Anouk van Dijk also choreographs her own work, first with the Rotterdamse Dansgroep and later as an independent choreographer at Danswerkplaats Amsterdam. In 1998 she started her own dance companionship, amoukvandijk dc. In the meanwhile she choreographed more then 25 pieces. In 2000 she received the Lucas Hoving Prijs for her work during the festival De Nederlandse Dansdagen.

Miquel Jorda SaunMiquel Jorda Saun started to play the violin in the music school of Vila-seca (Spain), where he finished the studies with the maximum qualifications in violin and chamber music. Since then he has been studying at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht with violin teachers Chris Duindam and Liz Perry. Miquel will finish his Bachelor with his current viola teacher Richard Wolfe.

Although he has participated as an orchestral player in the National Youth Orchestra of Catalunya and Jeunesse Orchestre Athlantique, his actual interest is a focus in chamber music. Miquel has been member of the Enara Trio and he is a founder of the Quartet Gerhard.

Katerina Pejoska

Katerina Pejoska studied Composition in Macedonia, Czech Republic and Holland. Her first premier took place when she was 18 years old at the big contemporary music festival Days of Macedonian Music. Because of her classical education, Katerina wrote mostly music for acoustic instrument for a long time, but turned to electronic music at Utrecht School of Arts. Her work has been performed in Europe and the United States.For the past ten years Katerina Pejoska has been focussing on writing applied music. Besides her work for film, her music for Droomjager got a Gouden Vlam in 2000, she often works with combinations of acoustical elements and live electronics for art installations, theatre and dance. Since 2004 Katerina works also as a teacher at the faculty of Music Technology of Utrecht School of Arts and she founded Zoey Foundation for Arts and Culture, where a diversity of art & culture projects are organized.

Sabine Linz

Sabine Linz studied Theater at the Utrecht School of Arts and at Jaques Lecoq in Paris. After her graduation in Utrecht she received an international scholarship for the USA, where she studied Modern Dance and Film. To enrich her knowledge of modern Dance, she studied Choreography at Rotterdam Dansacademie.

Sabine has done different interdisciplinary projects, among others ‘www.snowwhite-witches.nl’ (Lantaren workshop production), ‘chiaroscuro’ (Huis a/d Werf production), ‘Uzima’ (Luna Blou co-production on CuraÁao) and ‘(R)evolution’ (international collaboration in Senegal, with Project Wildeman and dansers of ‘Jant Bi’). She also choreographed the price-winning video clip ‘Grip’ of zZz and the interactive video clip ‘More is less’ of C-Mon & Kypski.

Laurens, Roel en SabineRoel van Doorn studied Sound Design in Hilversum at the faculty for Art, Media and Technology. Since his graduation in 2009 he has been designing software for multimedia performances, in which image and sound relate to each other through different methods of analysis. For VOID he has build the interactive visual software, which allows the dancer to influence the images appearing on the screens.

Laurens van der Wee is a sonic designer and composer of electronic music from The Netherlands. Recently, Laurens collaborated with Benedikt MacIsaac, Chun-ho Lam, Roel van Doorn, Marleen Wester, Jacopo Mezzanotti and Francesca Thompson, a.o.. Laurens developed the improvisation
system The Cake, suitable for live instrumentalist and computer. Other projects include No Sine Cure, Tilemaster and a realization of Anthèmes 2.
